Alex Sepkus

Born and raised in Kaunas, Lithuania, the son of an architect, Alex Sepkus always had an affinity for unique and intricate designs. He studied industrial design in Vilnius, but grew bored and decided to change his career direction to jewelry. In 1988, Sepkus gained recognition in his home country with pieces shown in museums in Vilinus and Moscow. A couple of years later in 1991, Alex immigrated to the United States and opened a small workshop with his partner in New York.

Alex describes his detailed lines as “half painted, half sculpted”, using his signature technique of working on small components under a microscope with very few tools and then fusing them together to make one complete piece. Each tiny component is so detailed that it may take several days for Alex to finish carving one square inch of surface, but his obsession with perfection fuels his desire to be satisfied with every detail. He says he is not inspired by anyone or anything specifically, but rather has a timeless and distinct style completely his own.
